Workshop Activities

Get Your Hands Dirty

Members can work on their own personal projects or collaborate with others — at their own pace, in a supervised and well-equipped workshop environment.

🪵

Woodworking

From furniture and cabinetry to small decorative items — our well-equipped woodworking area is popular with members of all skill levels. Beginners are always welcome.

🔄

Wood Turning

Create beautiful bowls, vases and decorative pieces on the lathe. An endlessly satisfying skill to develop — and we have experienced members who love to teach it.

⚙️

Metalworking & Welding

From fabrication and grinding to MIG, TIG and arc welding — our metalworking area is well equipped for both practical builds and creative projects. Experienced members are on hand to teach welding techniques safely, whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills.

💡

New Technologies

The Men's Shed isn't just about traditional tools — we embrace new ones too. Our CNC router and laser engraver open up a whole new world of precision making, from engraved timber gifts and signage to intricately cut parts and decorative panels. Members are encouraged to learn these machines from scratch; no prior experience is needed and the results never fail to impress.

Restorations

Got an old piece of furniture, machinery or equipment that deserves a second life? Restoration work is a great way to combine skills and produce something satisfying.

🌳

Timber Milling

Processing raw timber into usable lumber. Great for members who want to work with timber from the very beginning — and make the most of donated or salvaged wood.

🎨

Art & Craft

Not everything has to involve power tools. Art and craft activities are a great way to be creative, express yourself and enjoy the social side of the shed.

🏗️

Community Projects

Some of our most rewarding work is done for others. We take on projects that benefit local community organisations, schools and charities — including our famous cubby houses.

Making a Difference

Community Projects

Some of our most rewarding work happens when we build things for others. Our members have taken on a wide range of community projects over the years — from cubby houses and garden furniture to repairs and donations for local organisations.

Does your community group or organisation have a project we could help with? Get in touch — we'd love to hear from you.
